Muscovy

Muscovy are classified as a heavy duck breed and is not a mallard derived breed. They come in several color varieties and lay a white egg that can some times be tinted.  When breeding this breed, if they are bred to a none muscovy breed they create a mule that is sterile. When breeding to a mallard derived duck to a muscovy if the mallard derived breed was the female then the eggs take roughly 28 days to hatch while if the duck was a muscovy the egg takes roughly 35 days to hatch.  The incubation of the muscovy egg is 35 days. The ducks make excellent mother.  Unlike all other duck breeds the drakes hiss and the hens make soft peeping type noise. They are one of the quietest duck breeds out there. These ducks make great pets for anyone wanting a pet duck. They are also great for mosquito control. The meat of this breed is excellent and delicious, often compared to veil. The meat is lean unlike other duck breeds.  Muscovy are a perching breed and due to this perching they have very sharp, strong, talon like nails. They are very good climbers and will use their talons and bills to help them climb fences and such.  This breed makes a great forger.
